This short film represents the video portion of my senior thesis/solo exhibit at The University of Texas at Dallas, containing footage that spans an entire year.

“Memories of the Everyday”

Lauren Marek documents the everyday through photographs and video, focusing on her intimate relationships with friends and family. Through the record of these unfolding moments, she begins to blur the line between staged event and real experience—-echoing the uncertainty and elusiveness of memories themselves.

This is a student project and not meant for commercial use.

it’s so tender and delicate and hilarious and nostalgic and makes me feel so fond of the life of a person that I barely know

I was crying and then laughing and then crying again. This is so powerful and related to so much of the experiences I’ve had in my own life. It’s great to peer into someone else’s and realize how much beauty is still left in the world. 

This just inspires me to make more movies with the people around me. Someone buy me a mark II, ya? I’ll love you forever.
